GST means goods and service tax. Person to whom the GST registration in Tamil Nadu is required?
Every supplier is liable to be registered if aggregate turnover in the financial year exceeds Rs 20 lakh (10 lakh for special category states), but for some businesses, registration under the goods and service tax new registration is mandatory. After getting registered under GST, the registered person will be allotted a 15-digit GSTIN number Tamil Nadu (Goods & Services Taxpayer Identification Number). Among these, the first 2 digits represent the state name of the GST number Tamil Nadu, and the next 10 digits are alphanumeric numbers of the PAN number of the person or firm engaged in business.

A registered supplier can avail input tax credit on purchase of inputs and can also give credit to the person who buys Goods from him. And a Registered person can also make interstate sale without any restriction.
Consequences of not registering under GST:
All suppliers of goods and service tax registration should register themselves under GST, either on a voluntary or mandatory basis, because the consequences of non registration may cause various losses and penalties, such as:
(a) Penalty of Rs. 10,000.
(b) Not eligible for input tax credit.
(c) A Not eligible for the issue of a tax invoice.
(d) The non-eligible person for the transfer of input tax credit.
(e) Detention of Goods and Conveyance and Confiscation of Goods. So we advise you to register yourself under GST within 30 days from the day you will be liable to be registered, or you can also register for GST Tamil Nadu on a voluntary basis, After taking registration, you will be treated as a normal taxpayer and can avail of all benefits given under the GST regime.

Time taken for GST registration in Tamil Nadu:
Normally, it will take a maximum of 4-5 days to get GST registration in Tamil Nadu; if it is not approved by the GST authority, it is automatically approved after one week. It will be considered an allotment of GST registration in Tamil Nadu.
Process of Getting a GST Registration in Tamil Nadu:
(1) Firstly, we will create a login and password for the GST portal.
(2) Fill in all the necessary particulars in the form.
(3) Upload the necessary documents required, as the case may be.
(4) Submit the application with a digital signature, or EVC, as the case may be.
(5) Wait for the government’s approval.
